Last few days before OFFICIAL start of holidays~~

Haha, well let me first explain the title. I actually was having more than one week of UN-official holiday, because I finished my exams on the 3rd day of exam week. LoLz. So was enjoying myself like I mentioned in my earlier post. This post is more for the days after the others more or less start finishing their exams ady and going out with them.

So first was going to watch Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa with Xander, Yen, SuYin, Carly and WeiFeng. LoLz, my 2nd time watching in one week, and in the same Hall and row. Lolz. But not a bad movie to watch, so 2nd time was stil fun to watch since it is so packed with comedy. Haha. Enjoyed it just as much as the 1st time with YinChau.

Then next few days, just go out for dinner with different bunches of people. Even ended up having Philipino food at Marina Sq. Not that bad, just that the drinks were very not worth it. less than 500ml and it cost SGD6. I think was only 250ml... but the food is nice. Was a la carte, so 5 of us shared 4 dishes and rice. Only SGD24, so isnt too expensive in my opinion.

Then on thursday nite, went out to meet James and everyone else, alot of people, 14 or 15 i think. Went to have dinner at Holland V's The Coffee Club. Had the most meager dish I have ever had. 1 small pastry with alot of salad and some mushroom cream sauce at the side. Pastry was supposed to be stuffed with salmon but it was so little. =.= Not going to have that again. After that, we went for dessert at Haagen Daaz. Didnt have anything because I wasn't in the mood for desserts, just didnt want any.

Then on friday, we went out for movie at ViVo, went to watched Bolt. Its an alright movie, I think Madagascar was funnier, but it also had its own set of funnies. Haha. Nothing major on friday, was only supposed to go for Guild lunch but ended up being cancelled and so went to Engin for lunch. Haha. Then dinner was at Fong Seng. Spent alot the last few days. But good thing I didn't spend too much during the rest of semester. So don't feel too guilty about it. Hehe.

Then on Saturday, is time to go back. But it sucks going back in morning, when one can't fall asleep at night. So was awake till over 4am and woke up at 7am. LoLz. But nvm, since can sleep more when back home. Haha. And its good to be back :) Missed my family so much.

Now just waiting for 10th Dec so that we can go holiday in Japan! WooHoo~~ Hope that will be a good trip. Need touch up on Jap, Sayonara ~~ *for now*

Enjoying myself after exams.. so to speak

Well just wanted to blog about what has been happening the past few days during and after exam.

Firstly, during exam period or at least during study break, i received this, well more like bought this :

WOOHOO!!! Uber cool, but too bad I am still just starting out so havent gotten to enjoy this that much yet. But just wait till one day, I will reach the peak! Go go! Not too mention having guildmates that are helpful as well would make playing more enjoyable.

So got it from JunYen during study break, which I couldn't wait for exams to be over to start playing. Which I am now, resulting in this short old man:

Besides WoW: WotLK, I also enjoyed the 1st day after exams by going out to try thea Korean BBQ restaurant opposite Haw Par Villa, wasn't exactly what I expected, where I expected better.. haih.. not worth it.. well at least now I know. But was surprised to get this for ordering to BBQ dishes,

So this is like the combo that comes with the BBQ, alot of cold stuff, well they weren't hot at least. And alot raw vegetables to be used to wrap the BBQ-cooked stuff. Moderate enjoyment of food, poor performance in terms of price =.= Such a let down.

Then yesterday went over to Suntec to meet up with YinChau and her family. Since they came down to visit and have a short holiday. Hehe. They ended up going there to walk, on the way to meet her I stopped at HMV to browse around and ended up getting this:

Linkin Park's latest album, although not an album of new songs, its still cool, cos its the live performance CD n DVD combo. After HMV, stopped at MPH where I bought a story book, Terry Pratchett's "Sorcery", which I haven't read before, so hoping to get lost in Discworld like I always have enjoyed =D.

Thats about it, and just feeling so bored now that YinChau has just went home. Only thing to do now is continue WoW-ing. ZAP ZAP! DIE!!!

Earliest!!! ~~ to end exam =P

WOO HOO!!! super glad to be over with exams. Officially finished my exams and ended the first semester at 11am, 25th Nov. Possibly the earliest amongst my friends here. Wahaha. So shiok, now can enjoy and relax, catch up on blogging as well? Lolz, hope so.

I guess exams was alright, not much to say, shouldn't have any pulling down of grades this semester I think. I did quite a satisfactory job, so no regrets.. but would still not want to have CAP dropping, maintaining is a-okay for me! No high hopes, no low blows. =P

So now that exams are over, continuing on with WoW! My shorty gnome warlock needs training, forgot alot of things, and with the new things with the expansion, super lost. Just gotta play it through and adapt, which i don't mind honestly. Haha. WoW together with episodes of CSI, will be my entertainment till all my friends are free. Can't wait to hang out and do stuff with everyone.

On a side note, since yesterday was my official first day of holiday, I decided to go get my Laptop checked. Appears that the DVD-Drive was really bonkers. So got it replaced under warranty, and got to reformat. Now its nice n clean =D , with fujitsu screen savers. Haha.

Well thats all for now, try to catch up more, but nothing much to say since nothing much happens once I started staying outside and everyone started getting busy. Especially after the mid-term break, so for now just gonna sit back n relax. **satisfaction**

End of Year 2 break - "Continued"

Well jz thought that I'd blog finish about my long break where I did an internship for the most part. Now just want to blog about the different things that happened during the break that is NOT internship related.

During the break, my family would come down to visit me, sometimes just mum and sis, other times abit more, and other times again EVEN MORE! Till not enough place to sleep. LoL.. Then the duration varies, sometimes for a week, sometimes less. There was a time Jacq came for nearly 2 weeks or maybe more. Can't exactly remember. Haha. And she was pretty bored, but she is lucky that by the time she came, the internet was up and running. Which I might add, I took a whole day leave to just get it set-up and spent pointless time travelling since I thought the modem was going bonkers. And the solution ~~~ I am not going to say to save embarassing myself. Haha. But happy to have it up and running, with a speed of 10Mbps Unlimited, only drawback for my desktop is that it takes a few minutes for it to actually allow me to access the Internet. So besides that, its all cool =D

Then there was a week where YinChau came to visit me also, since she also needed to do some admin stuff to get her results and stuff. So spent some time with her by taking leave for the Friday before she goes back to KL, so had three days to spend with her without worrying about work. Haha. Brought her to go to the Singapore Flyer, which is not that bad, considering the time we went when the sun was starting to make its descent. Then there were nights where she and myself would cook dinner, which is more healthy then Fong Seng (main supper place). LoL.

Then a few times went out to watch movie with the others, such as Iron Man!!! NICE! I know kinda late to say it but seriously worth the money, especially since we got to sit in the bigger cinema, the GVMax. Shioks de ne! Den there was Wanted also, highly anticipated but overly rated and emphasised through their trailer. So much physics-bending events and graphics! Lol. If only it was possible, I wouldnt mind joining the Fraternity if I could.

Then there are also a few times where some of those still around and doing internship would come over to my place and we would watch movie or something, and also play texas hold'em, since I got a box of chips, 4coloursx25chips. Not much, but its something. We havent played with real money though. Haha. Also got a few occassions where some of them from PGP would come over to "learn" swimming at night. Since SRC (Sports and Recreation Center) is closed or something.

UFOIII was also during this period, and Yen came back the week before it started, participated and helped out not as much as I hoped I would. So didnt get to know my own age group as much, D= , but at least I met them. Although I hardly see any of the freshies now. Haha. But had fun during Sentosa, helped WingSheng out and end up kena forfeit in the end also, swtness.. mix with him.. sure get kena also.. LoL.. such as getting thrown into the sea =.= but that was also because Kim Wong was also around, so unexpected.. And since I was also wet, everyone else near the sea wont be getting off so easily. LoL. But it was nice to hang out with them and stuff, chit chat gets crazy! Haha. Onion head. LoL. So unexpected that so many had that same feeling. I guess somethings are just so obvious..

And so.. that wraps up how I spent my days outside of work when I am not alone, and when I am alone.. I jz sit infront of the desktop playing NBA (courtesy of Kai Lin) or stream House or watch movies from James (before internet).

    Last day of Summer Break~~~

FREAK-ing long time didnt blog, 2-3months maybe? Haha. Just no time and didnt have much to blog about, since was kinda repetitive at time. LoL.

So lets start around where I left off. Right after exams, and going into the 1st week of holiday. It started off with the weekend, where can enjoy and celebrate for the end of exams, however, alot of friends already left to go back to Msia, with some staying for work. I am in the latter grouping. So come 1st Monday of the 1st week of Summer Break, I gotta wake up early and head to the Corporation Road, near Jurong. Was suppose to be there only at 9am, but I wasn't so sure how long the trip there would be, I left at around 7.30am. Lol. Ended up reaching early, and so was given basic and boring paperwork to do. However, at 9am, the other Biz intern arrived, and so we could start with the orientation for us interns. And here is where I am working:

This is the name of the building where the company is at

This is the company's name.. Rockwell Automation Asia Pacific Business Center Pte. Ltd. ... Long name huh. Haha.

So got a tour of the place, they occupy the front section of Corporation place, on two levels. And its BIG! And alot of ppl. Especially on the 5th floor, I am on the 6th. Since 5th is the production floor. Their production scale is quite large, thankfully the components are small, otherwise, logistics is going to be really troublesome, even with the Service elevator which is bigger den my PGP room. Haha.

And so this is where I was working from the 12th of May til the 1st of August. Having to wake up at 7-7.15am in the morning to get a bus latest by 8am to reach the office by 8.30am. And I have never ended up later den 8.45am i think. Haha. Which I kind of regret. But have to so that I dont feel the guilt. Will work everyday till around 11.50am, and get ready for lunch break from 12-1pm, but never came back 15min b4 1pm, always on the dot or later than that. There was once we came back at nearly 2pm cos of rain and no way to avoid it. Haha. Then after lunch would continue working till 5.25pm, to get ready to go back. So at that time i would start signing out of MSN, save all my work, check email 1 last time and then turn off workstation. And whee ngam ngam 5.30pm, go go! Haha.

The 1st week of work was memorable, because my supervisor forgot to put in the request for a computer for me, meaning I was doing paperwork on the first and second day of work. Swt. Boring betul. Really the no-brainer kind of paperwork. But good thing I didnt end up getting sleepy. When finally got the computer, stunned, cos it was a small 1. I think 14" monitor and the mini desktop. Lol. Keyboard was also kind of tiny.

And so here is my worktable. Imagine the 1st day, it was compeletly empty. LoL. Only the stationary at the side, phone also wasnt there yet. And it slowly built up to this =D Dont know why I am happy over this though. Haha.

Alot of paperwork I went through, and there was the compactor filing, which had even more files, and I go there quite often as well. Swt.

The things that I was mainly involved or mainly did was:
    1) Finding invoices, payment vouchers, misc documents for data.
    2) Keying in the data obtained to a spreadsheet to be submitted to government to claim money
    3) Photocopy ALOT of documents, maybe even more than 1000 pages in total over my internship period
    4) Filing back all those documents, finding them again when requested, and again filing back, especially on the last day =.= .. get back to this later.
    5) Key in payments that need to be made into a very widely used Manufacturing management/accounting software called MFGPRO, which was actually all in MS-DOS. LoL. So monochrome effect.
    6) Finding different people from different departments for tagging fixed assets. MOST DIFFICULT TASK, THIS IS!
    7) Some Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities.
    8) alot of other repetitive and no-brainer work. Lol.

Now the basic flow of the whole thing, went to collect documents for the claims and so that the auditor can come and check and leave asap. Which she kind of did. Hehe. All thanks to my hardwork. However, after I prepared all the photocopies, the auditor wanted to see all the original copies!!! ZzZzZz.... So it was back to the compactor, opening nearly the same file over 4times for different documents, since I was searching based on different people at a time. Some of the documents were like the next document and I didnt realise it. What a waste of time. And after getting all the documents and putting it all in a nice stacked order for the auditor, I find out on the 2nd last day, that I was supposed to keep it all back in again. =.= Was previously told by the auditor after she left that I should leave the documents out first, in case they need to come back to check again. ON THE 2nd LAST DAY of my internship, I was told to file it ALL back. ZZZZ!!! nearly 100 documents to file back, into maybe 20 files. And all done on the last day. Had to CHIONG! took me nearly 2hours, which is actually VERY GOOD! Considering that it took me 1day to take it all out. I guess this is the difference between strategizing on how to do a task before doing it. LoL. To make my last day EVEN more hectic, was having to sort, and file invoices that were to be made payable. This is done at the end of every month =.= the month's closing. Even on my last day I had to do it, since still considered a staff there. So it was like 2 and a half A4 sized basket 1' high full of tax invoices to be sorted alphabetically and then by a reference number! Huah! Crazy! Chionged doing it for also 2-3hours. And this was after lunch!!! Both the refiling and this invoice clearing, RIGHT after lunch! 1st time I was EVER so BUSY!!! I am not saying I wasnt before, but 1st time having to CHIONG and be pressured to complete it. And so I ended up leaving office at nearly 6pm. LoL. Not bad, considering the sudden increase in workload. Lol.

Then the other main task, besides the claim was the tagging that I mentioned earlier, and it is difficult because of two things, 1) there was a heck load of assets, some were in storage, making it hard to find, others were disposed off, transferred to another location.. so many different cases. worst of all was when there were many units under 1 tag code, so had (x / y), (x+1 / y) ..... sienz when got such. Sometimes there were just too many that it just cant be tagged. And also theres a cut off limit, but still got some that were below that limit that shouldnt be tagged, are still tagged because its needed by the boss. =.= Dont know which to follow, company policy set by HQ or boss. Well lucky I am only here for 2mths+ so best to follow boss, which means more work. Haih. Then the 2nd reason was, the person in charge. Some of them are very helpful, but the others were so pro at "Tai-Chi" pushed to other people or give the common excuse, not free now. Never free 1. =.= Got 1 I even saw the person jz talking to another person while doing some kind of exercise, just rotate the waist and talking. ARGH!!! useless! Well at least I did my best. And cleared up most of the tagging. And also the assets were located on both floors, so for those that were in the production floor, I was required to wear a smock, to prevent electro static damage (ESD) to their electrical components and etc. And also a heel strap, since i dont have the ESD safer footwear. Heres a picture of the smock that was loaned to me:

Another thing that was done by me even though it is not exactly in my job description was data entry, the invoices that are payable. So spent alot of time keying in the data. Fell asleep on numerous occassions. It cant be helped, it was just TOO boring, and I jz had lunch, so tendency to fall asleep higher that time. Haha. But really, easy job la. Only way for it to be difficult was when its hard to find the PO number, or invoice number. But also had to be careful to key in the correct data, such as exchange rate if there is any, or the invoice date. After that, there was just the printing of a summary report. simple task.

Also involved in two CSR activities, 1st was the food delivery to the elderly, aka Meals on Wheels. This I didnt sign up for but was signed up by the department's big boss for the whole department. Happened in the 2nd or 3rd week. Easy task, just go and deliver packed food to a selected few house units. Troublesome part was maybe going to the different blocks and units, and also the running up and down. But then, after that, the following week got treated to a department lunch, because of doing this, WOOT! Free Meal!!! The 2nd activity, I voluntarily signed up for it, around the 4th last week of internship. House Cleaning for the Elderly. This was abit tiring, and hot. I ended up being assigned to clean the toilet, after being teased to do it, I really end up doing it. Swt. But good thing it wasnt a very dirty toilet. Haha. Just normal dirt cleaning, and not wat I was afraid off. =P Hehe. But we were like the last few groups to finish. Huah, really alot of cleaning. Haha.

One of the most no-brainer job I got was tearing the perforated carbon copies sides. Haha. So easy, at first I tore it page by page, but after the 1st 100pages, it was IMPOSSIBLE!!! So I took the risk in trying to tear a whole bunch at once, AND IT WAS POSSIBLE!!! And much more efficient. Haha. Heres a pic of my mountain of tearing work. LoL. Btw, there were 4 such mountains, some even denser and taller than this. Lol.

But seriously the most no brainer, and at least wont fall asleep. Haha, consider it physical exercise. Hehe. And also thankfully they have the BIG hole punchers, which you can see at the side of my worktable, all the way to the right in the earlier picture.

And in my 2nd last week there, I had to do a presentation to the BIG BIG Bosses.. the VP of the APBC, Mr Dave Johnson, and a few other bosses. But the VP was already the highest in the company and in my presentation. So I presented with the other intern. Was quite nervous, but it turned out alright thanks to the friendliness of the company and the support from my department head and supervisor. Hehe. And there was no "head-wrenching" kind of questions. Thankfully.

Hmm.. so basically that was all during my work there. Met a great bunch of people. Some very friendly, some very helpful, and all nice people. No stress there. Hehe. Not much anyway. The people there are just so nice and friendly. Here's a pic of my whole department.

From L-R, Andrew (Very friendly and fun to talk to, reminds me of WK for some reason), Winn Ei (New staff), Esther (treat me to lunch once), Hui Leng (Depatment Head), Ida (My 1st supervisor), Jessie (2nd supervisor), Suk Joo (Korean from the Korea Branch, on a 6month transfer), Xing Ling (Just graduated from SIM, but worked and studied at the same time), Me, Edmund (New staff), Phoon (helped him to do the A/P processing) and Ching Ouh (a very friendly and generous guy). Nice bunch of peple, have to really thank all of them. For giving me a good experience. And also thanks to the drivers for fetching me and the others out to lunch, especially Ching Ouh and Andrew. Then Phoon, when we went for the Home Cleaning, and Hui Leng when go to Meals On Wheels. Haha.

And also got 5 free LUNCH! The first after Meals On Wheels, 2nd when another staff (Edward) left, 3rd when Edmund arrive, 4th when Winn Ei arrived and last was my Farewell Lunch. Wahahaha. Shiok de ne! Then also had a free lunch from Ching Ouch once, and from Esther. Then also got alot of freebies from the company, got a free larnyard, 2 free portable fan and a company mug! Company mug was supposed to be given to me near the start but only got it halfway. Then the other two was from the company's Movie Night. Paid only $3 to get into GVMax to watch Indiana Jones, and a free sausage combo. Woot woot! Haha. Then there was also the Work Safety Fair, which was suppose to be a fun session to play some games. And win cheap prizes. LoL.

So that was basically all that happened during work, besides the daily going to work and coming back and doing work there and etc. Lol.

Now, I am just waiting for my final pay cheque. FASTER GIMME MONEY!!! =P

    The Entry into an Internship...

Like the blog title suggest, I started my internship today. Feel pretty nervous the night before. Couldn't exactly get to sleep. Haha. And all that worrying was actually not worth it.. since the company is quite alright.

So abit of a background on the company I am working at, for the next 2 and a half month. Its Rockwell Automation Asia Pacific Business Center P/C. Haha.. long name le.. But its actually just Rockwell Automation, RA for short, or Rockwell. Its a electronics company from the US that set up here not too long ago. They have 5 main products, 2 of which the subsidiary I work for is globally responsible for. SO its quite a big company, considering its still considered a Start-up by the Govt. I am given the "Finance Intern" position, but I feel that its basically going to be just do alot of paperwork and data crunching, but as long as I dont get too bored, I think I can survive. The pay isnt that bad as well. Haha. Secret for me to know =P. But its high enough that I will need to work hard.

Woke up at around 6.50am to get ready and shower finish. And so by 7.30am was at the busstop nearby to wait for the bus. Around 7.40am the bus came and was approximately a 40min ride before I reached near the building, where I take another 5mins to walk to from the stop I get off. Btw, its at Corporation Place, so if you take the 2nd link and come through Tuas on bus, you can see it. Reached the office kinda early.. around 8.20am, and waited till around 8.45am when I was suppose to only be there by 9am. But I cant help coming early. Haha.

So by 9am, met the HR person that set up the recruitment offer, Ms Lydia. Quite a nice lady, my 1st time meeting her. And she gave me and another guy, Ryan also from NUS, 3rd Year Biz. He is here as a Marketing Intern, and so she gave us a tour and briefing of the company, and handed us over to our respective departments.

1st day on the job, and I only do paperwork. Since they havent got my workstation ready yet. Haha. But its alright, since I am still new, and not bored easily. Haha. Then had lunch at the building's canteen on the 7th floor. Its not the tastiest but I guess its alright. And after lunch I felt sleepy, after doing abit of work. Huah.. cannot cannot.. so I end up going to the pantry to make myself a cup of tea. Hehe, since its free also. Got alot of things that happened I guess.

    - I met Kai Ju there... although he is at the other phase.
    - Learnt there are vendors everyweek, fruit and bread vendors that come on alternate weeks.
    - Got a temporary access card, where I need to tap tap to access places.
    - Saw the production line 1 floor below, which is actually quite small, since its all electronics, but the area is actually quite big.
    - Did alot of paperwork and sorting and filing

And at the end of the workday, which is around 5.30pm, I went back. Went back home, changed and went for a short swim, but had a change of mood after a few laps due to the not so clear water and loneliness. So got out and went up to change into some dry clothes. Then went for dinner 1st, at the mamak nearby. After which I went back for abit, sat around, watched TV, and then Leo ajak me to PGP. And so went there to play board games. And around 10+, close to 11, went back home. Was bored of waiting for bus, so walked back. Hehe. And thats how my 1st day was.. Hopefully it gets more interesting.. with more interesting tasks and also my own workstation!!!

    The end of exams....

Super overdue post now. And after this post dont know how long more till the nest 1 because of no internet available once I work.

So, basically was heck busy with exams, and studying during the study week. Here's my schedule approximately 2 weeks before exams, so like my previous post.. I had 1 presentation on 11th April, followed by another on 18th April, both Fridays. And then supposed to have a week of studying before exam, however.... on 19th April.. I already have my 1st Paper.. "Quiz" ( I feel it is an Exam though.. Cheated!) Followed by another on the 21st.. UBER Hectic! So end up cramming everything between the two presentation dates. And those two papers were Finance Major modules, so I absolutely CANNOT screw up!

Then my next exam was on the 30th of April, and luckily its a IT module, so it isnt that difficult to study. SO actually end up studying for my other modules 1st, and left the IT for the last two days. So studied for my core modules that are on the 3rd and 7th of May. However, after the IT exam, I went to find my mum and family, who came down to help me and my friends shift my stuff to my new place. So didnt get any proper studying done =S, well not until the 24th.

IT exam was alright, just abit tricky. Since some questions are like.. "The following are true EXCEPT..", "Which of the following is INCORRECT.." or "Which of the following are CORRECT.." meaning that you really need to read the question properly before answering. And good thing I double checked, because I actually ended up making a few mistakes. Phew~

Next paper, Operations Management, my core module. But so sad that I didnt study it very seriously. Didnt do any practice for that, just studied the notes. Now I regret having done so... =( Got some questions I should have been able to do, its like a give away question.. and so much marks, but the phrasing and so much words just made me so confused. And hence, I came out of that exam pretty much bummed, but the next day I got over it ... eventually ... and I am only down to 1 last exam paper.

The last paper, which was in the evening, whilst everything else was in the morning.. =.= , Asia Pacific Business Policy and Ethics. Long name, for a super OPEN and BROAD module. Basically covered all the economic crisis and situations in the AP region. Good thing it was focused to only 4 main countries, and not all the countries in the region. I guess its an Ok paper, could do finish, but just bang-ed and crapped my way through. Handed in only 1 10page booklet.

And on the 7th of May, at 7.30pm, I have officially finished my 2nd year in NUS, and 2 (or 1) year to go till I graduate with my Bachelors Degree. Now I just wish that the results will be kind to me and my friends. Wish all my friends the best for their exam results.
